Inroduction
In August2006,the First South Asian Regional Policy Dialogue on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management was held in New Delhi . At this meeting the Delhi Declaration on a South Asian Regional Consensus on Disaster Management was formulated and agreed unanimously by all 125 participants, representing governments and non-governmental sectors from 8 nations of South Asia .
The Second South Asia Regional Policy Dialogue on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management titled "Towards Operationalising of Regional Consensus on Disaster Risk Reduction in South Asia" was held in Colombo on 23 rd and 24th August 2007 as follow up to the first meeting. The aim of the meeting was to review the status of the implementation of the Delhi Declaration and to chalk out a program of action that helps to operationlise the South Asian Regional Consensus on Disaster Management.
